kitten update...

So the news... she recovered very well.  Someone did come to claim her.  I hope they keep a good eye on her from now on.  We are back on the fence about the cat idea.  We want a cat to help keep the mice out of our farmhouse.  I also have to get the kids to start cleaning thier rooms before they can be responsible for a cat.  Hmmm... what to do?

Giveaway winners!

OK, so my first giveaway only got two biters... but they are the most awesome people!  They both get a gift.  I will make a small journal for each of them.  Thank you DramaMama & LOVELiNSY for putting your time into trying to think up new names for me & posting them.  You are both great!

As for my new shop name... if you know me you know I am a very random and inpulsive person.  I had a bit more time to think about it and I think I'll keep the one shop and open another shop.  I'm not sure how it will be structured yet, but I'd like to sell quilt patterns and maybe some destash supplies.  I'll try to take my time to think about it... and I'll keep you all posted.

Blog mention & a new kitten?!

I was mentioned in this gorgeous blog today!  The site is http://www.indieicing.com/, and they did such a great job with the post!  It is all about getting ready for next spring!  I've never planted bulbs, but I've always loved tulips and irises.  They have convinced me to try to plant some bulbs this fall... I'll keep you posted as to how they come out in the spring :)

OK... the kitten.

My husband was taking the kids to school today and he noticed a very small kitten right on the white line in the road.  He was very worried that it would get hit, so he pulled over.  We have been talking about getting a cat for outside around the house to live in the studio.  We are not really cat people... I love cats as long as I don't have to clean up after them.  Well, he saw that the kitten was in very rough shape and thought it would be better if it just found a place to go peacefully... he's got a huge heart, but is a practical man.  So he was trying to usher the kitten into the ditch (did I mention he was in his jammies) and was going to get back into the car.  The girls were crying... they didn't want to leave the kitten.  As he went to get into the car someone else pulled up behind him and insisted that he take the kitten into the vets.  Why didn't the man who stopped take the kitten?  Because he had a rental car and couldn't get it dirty.  So, my husband who was already feeling guilty got the kitten, put it in a small wastebasket we had in the car and put our road atlas over the top to keep the kitten in.  He says the kitten hadn't groomed itself in a while and was covered in mucus.  He took the kids to school.  He then went to a nearby town to a vets office to have the kitten seen.  He was in his jammies... thereby no wallet, or cellphone.  The vet told him that there was nothing that they could do because the kitten was not ours & to take it to the local humane society.  So, my husband is about 30 minutes late from time I thought he would be home.  When he walked in with a meowing box I didn't ask questions.  He was still in his pajamas, so he showered and we took the kitten to the humane society.  At this point we were just hoping to get the kitten treated so we could bring it back home and make it comfortable.  It didn't take much convincing that this cat was destined to be ours.  When we got to the humane society they told us that they had to keep the kitten for treatment, and to see if thier owner would claim it... for seven days!  I called this afternoon and they couldn't tell me how the kitten was doing because it hadn't been seen yet.  It couldn't be too bad if they could wait until this afternoon to have it seen, right?  I'm calling back tomorrow, probably going there and taking some donationed supplies with me.  They have a wonderful facility & didn't ask a thing from us and were very nice.  I have a feeling it is going to be a very long 7 days (I hope).  It will give up plenty of time to think up a name for this little fighter... any suggestions?  I'm not even sure if it's a boy kitty or a girl kitty :)

New Name Giveaway!!!

Since it's creation I've been unsatisfied with the name of my shop. It was a snap judgement, I very much wanted to open my shop. I picked the owl theme because I love owls, people love owls, and my great gram always wore a big bulky owl necklace that I loved. She loved owls too :) I'd like to keep some sort of owl in the name. I am open to any and all suggestions however!

So this is how I'll work this...

I will give away a LARGE JOURNAL of your choice to the person who comes up with the greatest, most original, catchy, fun, most wonderful name for my shop!

Post a comment here with your suggestion.

I will take suggestions until Sunday, September 20th.

If you suggest a name I reserve any and all rights to the name that is chosen.

I haven't decided yet if I will just decide on a name myself (and my "advisors" aka my 12 year old daughter), or if I will set up a poll on Monday of the top ten or so everyone can vote. Stay tuned to find out!

Good Luck All!

What a great day...

I am having such a good day!

This morning I woke up and am featured in this blog... http://the3maries.blogspot.com/2009/09/night-owl-craftworks.html. Then I got a convo on Etsy letting me know that I will be featured on Friday in another blog! How cool!

Then I had a wonderful seller, JennaDesigns, come to my house for lunch. Our babies got the chance to play a bit, and we got a chance to chat a bit!

After my company left, my little one went down for a nap and I have a chance to get some computer work done with some real focus! Yay me! If I'm really quiet I might even be able to clean this afternoon... or maybe I'll just go get a piece of cake :)

So I will be giving you side by side before & after shots, let me know what you think!

Settling in quite nicely...

We are all moved in to the new house. It is so wonderful! My mood has improved by leaps & bounds. I wish I wasn't so tired from all the work I'm doing to enjoy it. It isn't a bad tired, it's the good tired where you can wake up the next morning and want to get right back to doing whatever it was that made you so exhausted the day before. I've taken a few pics, but I'll have more coming. I'm sure.

Tonight was our first night in the pottery like it used to be... when we left NY 3 years ago we left behind our pottery. We are starting to get that back, and then some. It was such a great feeling to have the girls working right along side their dad tonight playing in the mud. For now I am totally happy... I wonder how long it is before I'm yelling at them to get in the house and get stuff done again. O well. It has been a great night. Now I have to get my husband to set up his Etsy shop.
